Proposed Projects

Check here for information on future projects that will expand or improve our water and wastewater systems.  For those listed below with an expected completion date, funding has been secured.

  • Multi-Community Water Extension Phase 1
    2023

    This $0.5 million project will extend public water service to areas on Ann Goode Cooper Road and Falin Hollow Lane.  Funding is from Virginia Department of Health, Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, LENOWISCO Planning District Commission, Coalfields Water Development Fund, and Scott County PSA.

  • Weber City Water Main Replacement/Leakage Reduction, Phase 2
    2023

    This $119,000 project received funding from Virginia Department of Health and will continue work toward our goal of reducing water loss in Weber City by replacing old and deteriorating galvanized water pipes.  We completed Phase 1 in 2020 and we will start construction on Phase 2 in 2023.

  • PInk Hill Community Water Extension
    2023

    This $0.4 million project, with ARPA grant funding from Hawkins County, Tennessee, will be an extension of our water main at the state line on Yuma Road.  It will serve approximately 50 existing homes and a few churches in Hawkins County.

  • Duffield Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Phase 2
    2024

    This $0.6 million project is funded by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and will make additional necessary upgrades to the over 40-year old facility that were not able to be done in Phase 1.

  • Nickelsville Water Improvements Phase 2
    2025

    This $2.6 million project is funded by the Virginia Department of Health and will expand the water system's source and treatment capacity and replace leaking galvanized water mains.

  • Nickelsville Wastewater Improvements Phase 2

    This $0.4 million project is funded by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and will make improvements to the three sewage pump stations.

  • Yuma Phases 2, 3, & 4/Hiltons Phases 1, 2, & 3 Sewer
    2025

    These projects received $15.8 million in funding from USDA Rural Development in 2017 and an additional $11.7 million from Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in 2023.  They will serve (1) areas in Yuma adjacent to the existing Yuma sewer that were not served by the Yuma Phase 1 Sewer Project and west of Yuma Elementary and (2) areas along US 58 from Nottingham to the center of the Hiltons community including Hiltons Elementary School.

  • Central Scott County Water Project Phase 1
    2025

    This $14.1 million project funded by USDA Rural Development will be the first phase of the PSA’s Comprehensive County Water Project with the goal of extending water to most of the County residents.  It will include new water mains along Nickelsville Highway/Rt. 71 from the end of our Big Moccasin service area near Snowflake, across Corn Ridge, and interconnecting with the Nickelsville water system and a water main up Big Moccasin Road for about 1 mile.  It will also include a new pump station and storage tank.

  • Upper Cliff Mountain Water Extension Phase 2
    2025

    This $1.2 million project, with funding from Appalachian Regional Commission, Virginia Department of Houseing and Community Development, LENOWISCO Planning District Commission, and Coalfields Water Development Fund, will connect to the Phase 1/Blackgum Lane Water Project and extend water to 20 homes further up the mountain.

  • Water Supply Resiliency Project
    Seeking funding

    This project is in the preliminary engineering phase and will look at all aspects of our water supply and treatment facilities to make sure they are capable of reliably serving our customers over the next 25 to 50 years.

  • Central Scott County Water Project Phase 2A
    Seeking funding

    This estimated $12 million project will serve the Manville area from the northeasternmost end near 748 Hill Station Alley Road, to the southernmost end near the Manville Community Center along Manville Road, and to the westernmost end near 889 Heavens View.

  • Central Scott County Water Project Phase 2B
    Seeking funding

    This project will serve the Midway and Twin Springs areas from the easternmost end near the Rt. 71/Twin Spring Road intersection, to the northernmost end near the Twin Springs Road/Titan Lane intersection, to the southwesternmost end near the Midway Market on Rt. 72.

  • Multi-Community Water Extension Phase 2

    This project will serve homes on Federal Road, Shoals Lane, and Hunters Valley East Road.

  • Reed Hollow Road Water Extension
    Seeking User Agreements

    This project would serve the homes from the Gate City town limits to the top of the hill, including side roads. We are currently gathering user agreements and income surveys.  The Lane Group is the engineer for this project.
